An ISS BIRTHDAY

    By Ink Headquarters

Birthday. When I say that word, you might think of cakes, celebrations, and fun. But have you ever thought that if you could do anything from visiting Earth's core to leaving the galaxy, what would your ideal birthday look like, from dawn till dusk? For me, It would be on the international space station.

The sun started to rise up in my porthole. My alarm went off. Beep! Beep! I woke up. It’s my birthday. I thought. First, I made a check in call with mission control to get my assignments. And they had a surprise. They said, Happy birthday Akshay! Today, we have a surprise for you today. Most assignments besides exercise will be grounded because….you will be going on a spacewalk! Said mission control. It will be to overview the station's structure and parts, said mission control. So eat your breakfast and get suited up! Okay mission control! I said. For me my ideal birthday breakfast on the station would be some eggs, and some waffles. I quickly got dressed and started preparing breakfast. My crew floated out into the module. Happy birthday! They said, I said thank you. Soon we finished making our waffles and eggs and had a splendid breakfast. Now it was time for the space walk.

After breakfast, me and another astronaut got suited up for the mission, we floated out of the airlock, and started our spacewalk. The first 30 minutes went well, but soon, we heard an alarm on our radio.  Then mission control said, a piece of the Zarya module’s insulation has fallen off! We better fix it or there might be depressurization, said mission control. Soon after 2 hours of repairing, we fixed it. It was a success. We came back in, got de-suited, and started to exercise. It is a major part of an astronaut’s lives because it keeps your bones strong when you come back to earth. So we started exercising. Soon, it was time to eat lunch. We made some delicious mac and cheese and tomato soup. We ate it and talked about the happenings of the day, like how the insulation foam broke off, and how we responded to it. Soon, it was time to inspect the interior of the Zarya module to make sure everything was okay. We found a few cracks, but we managed to fill in the cracks. Soon, it was almost 6:00, so we decided to start the party. We had a pizza party, and the most fun part was the tennis match we had in space! After we ate and had some fun, It was time to put some lights on the cake. We couldn’t use a candle because it could be dangerous for the space station, so instead we used an LED candle. We sang happy birthday, and I took out the LED candle, and we ate the cake. The cake was a chocolate pudding cake, and it was delicious. Soon, it was 8:00. I packed up everything for the night, got ready for bed, and dosed off, dreaming about the fun I had.

The End!
